Environmentally Friendly Holidays

With the current awareness of our impact on the planet, and a growing number of holidaymakers searching for an environmentally aware place to stay, here at La Roseraie we are trying to 'do our bit' to reduce our waste and make use of renewable energy resources:

Our hot water is heated by solar panels fixed to our south facing roof, providing us with an abundant supply all year round
When needed, our personal heating is by a wood buring stove, fuelled by fallen trees or sourced from sustainable forests
All used glass is kept separate and recycled in the commune provided recycling bins
Any other recyclable materials (cardboard, plastic, metal) is separated from normal waste and recycled via the commune provided fortnightly collection service
Food waste is turned into compost and liquid fertiliser via our home-made wormery!
We have our own vegetable patch to grow our own vegetables and (some!) fruit
We support local farmers by buying locally reared and slaughtered meat
Shopping is done locally, to avoid excessive transportation costs
